School Uniform
At St Catherine’s CE School it is our policy that all children should wear school uniform when attending school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours.
School uniform contributes not only to pupils’ sense of belonging, but also their positive attitude to learning. Children wearing smart school uniform is also something that is often commented on by visitors and reinforces the high expectations we have of children when they are in school.
Please ensure the children are dressed in our uniform, including suitable black shoes (not trainers).
School uniform can be purchased either locally (from Andrew Leach Schoolwear in Horwich) or online via Touchline.
Access to our online supplier Touchline can be found at http://www.touchline-embroidery.net/st-catherines-c-e/. This link will take you directly to our school shop.
Parents can access the on-line shop and you will be able to pay directly to Touchline by credit card or PayPal. Full instructions of how to make your order are on the Touchline website which is very quick and easy. You can choose to have your uniform delivered to school for free or to your home for a small charge.
If any parents still want to pay for uniform in cash then you can still order via an order form available from the school office. Your order form will be sent to Touchline with your payment (which must be in a named envelope) and this will be dealt with by Touchline staff.

Jewellery
On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school. The exception to this rule is that children with pierced ears may wear one small gold, silver or neutral stud earring in each ear (no hoops) which your child must be able to remove without help for P.E.
Hair
The school does not permit children to have haircuts that could serve as a distraction to other children or is un-natural in colour or cut. We request that children with long hair have it tied back during school hours for health and safety reasons. Hair accessories, eg, hair bands and bobbles should reflect the school colours or be neutral. Parents should also be aware that tattoos and nail polish are not permitted.
Footwear
The school wants all children to grow into healthy adults. We believe that it is dangerous for children to wear shoes with platform soles or high heels in school, so we do not allow this. Neither do we allow children to wear trainers to school; these are appropriate for sport or as leisurewear, but are not in keeping with the smart appearance of a school uniform.
