Horwich Town Council

Come and visit us...
To the north there's the beautiful West Pennine Moors, to the south a state of the art football stadium, and in between a vibrant town rich in heritage that's home to nearly 20,000 people and businesses from small local traders to multinational concerns.

Welcome to Horwich, a former railway and mill town that's only around five square miles in size but can boast the home of Bolton Wanderers Football Club, a 2002 Commonwealth Games venue, and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), not to mention the renowned Horwich Harriers fell running club and Horwich Prize Medal Morris Men.

There's also easy access to the West Pennine Moors, including Rivington and its landmark Pike and the enchanting Gardens created by Lord Leverhulme, the founder of global business Unilever, which are very popular with walkers and cyclists.

Minutes from the M61 motorway and with a direct rail service to Manchester International Airport and links to the national rail network, we think Horwich is a great place to live, work and visit; explore our website and find out why!
